On July 7, 2017 a big rain storm dump a couple inches of water on the field. The association felt best to canceled on the 8th for the condition of the field and not being able to stop the sleds. EIDTPA set up a make-up day at the March Meeting on August 5, 2017. The season will start on July 15, 2017 if the weather lets us.
The Eastern Indiana District Tractor Puller Association hosted the first weekend on July 9, 2016. 115 hooks for the day was a great start for the year. Three new tractors showed up for the competition. The classes were won by 10,000 – Nate N., 5,500 – Aaron M., 9,500 – Garrett M., 6,000 – Andy M., 9,000 – Brandon E., 6,500 – Nate N., 8,500 – Garrett M., 7,000 – Mike G. Congrats to all the pullers. The next competition is July 16th, start time: 9:00 a.m. at Niedenthal.
The association hosted the first weekend on July 18, 2015. 93 hooks for the day, this was a good start for a new year. The association decided to pull on the south end of the wheat field because of the hill and higher ground. The ground was muddy do to all the rain this year. The sleds were hard pulling all day. The 10,000 lbs. class was won by Aaron Mastin on 34 – International Harvester 706. Aaron was in a pull off with two other pullers. He won it by an inch at five feet four inches. The 5,500 lbs. class was won by Jack Hubbell on 76 – Farmall 560. Jack was the only one to pull over four feet until the pull off for fourth place. Nate Niehoff won the 9,500 lbs. class with the 65 – Oliver 1800. The class looked tough with him winning distance at five feet five inches. The 6,000 lbs. class was won by Aaron Mastin on 33 – Farmall 460. The class was going back and forth. One puller could pull it a good distance, and the next puller would only pull it a couple feet. Aaron won the class with a distance of seven feet three inches. Hip won the 9,000 lbs. class on the International Harvester 766. In this class, there was a hard fought battle over second place, but Hip won first with a distance of five feet. Doug Harpring won the 6,500 lbs. class with the 45 – Farmall 656. He was the first puller, and only won it by two inches. The 8,500 lbs. class first place winner was Andy Mastin on the 35 – International Harvester 806. The sled was pulling hard and no moisture was coming up. He won it by three feet eleven inches. The 7,000 lbs. class was not decided that day because of a big quick rain shower. After the rain shower, the little sled could not be stopped. On July 25th, the 7,000 lbs. class was finished, and Tim Moran came out victorious with a distance 7 foot. Looks like everyone had fun and was glad to get the season started.
